K-dramarama
The more Korean dramas I watch on Hulu, the more I want to learn Korean and stay in-country a few months. In that time I expect to get drunk in a drinking match and be carried piggyback home, meet several men with tormented pasts, get scolded by someone’s mom, lose my peripheral vision, and eat copious amounts of ramen noodles.
I like K-dramas that are fun, where the female lead is strong...

The #Spanish tag
This keeps popping up so I wanted to speak up:
It’s sad to check out the #Spanish tag on Tumblr and see people posting about how upset they are about seeing signs in Spanish or people speaking Spanish. How is this upsetting? The ads or signs are obviously not targeted at their demographic (so they’re not missing out), and you’ve gotta be really paranoid or self-centered to think...

Stunning LGBT campaign ads from Argentina →
A year ago, Argentina became the first country in Latin America to grant same-sex couples full marriage rights. Before this year is over, the Argentinean congress might very well pass a groundbreaking transgender-rights law extending health care protections to transgender individuals and making it easier for trans folk to change their ID’s to better reflect their gender identity...

Books in Spanish for Spanish learners...
What books written in Spanish (not translations) would you recommend for someone who is learning Spanish? It should be something easy to read...

mattcaruso:
Paul McGillion, who played the late Dr. Beckett on Stargate Atlantis, is starring in the pilot of Captain Starship. The show follows McGillion’s character, an actor in an always-tacky scifi series. The show is said to have an edgy and 30 Rock-inspired sense of humor. The folks at GateWorld say it’s...

bag of tacos: Uno, Spanish for one? →
I agree, I like the original UNO. I’m vintage.
bagoftacos:
Uno is Spanish for one. Or at least I am pretty sure that it is. I don’t know a whole lot of the Spanish language but I have picked a little of it up from hanging out in Mexican restaurants, occasionally (accidentally?) watching Dora the Explorer, and I remember a small amount (mostly curse words)…

Jibaro Sandwich
This is the first sandwich I want to present to you after the plantain bread introduction.
This sandwich inspired me to inspire Ryan to attempt it. It’s been one of my regulars at Sol Food and it is delicious. After a little research, I found that Jibaro is a term for peasants within Puerto Rican culture and has both positive...
