tumblwithteresa answered your question: List of All Network Science Fiction and Fantasy Pilots for the 2012-2013 season

Something like Devious Maids could turn out like Ugly Betty which ended up being really good. Just sayin’. :)

Looked up a better synopsis:

Devious Maids is loosely based on the Mexican telenovela The Disorderly Maids Of The Neighborhood and centers on four Latina women who are maids in Beverly Hills. The original Televisa format revolves around five housekeepers who work in a quiet residential condominium where nothing ever happens until a tenant mysteriously disappears, a suitcase full of money appears, along with a dead body, and the maids find themselves in the middle of it all. … Desperate Housewives creator Cherry wrote the script.

I thought about Ugly Betty too because of the rare U.S. adaptation from a Latin American original. I loved the American version of Ugly Betty and the original is one of the few telenovelas I like. I haven’t seen the original Mexican version of Devious Maids (Ellas son… la alegría del hogar, a 13 part series, so not really a telenovela), but its trailer looks interesting. Seems it’s a mystery/comedy. I’ve seen it referred to as the ‘Mexican Desperate Housewives’ which is a good or bad thing depending on if you liked DH (I quit that in the first season, so no.) I guess the pilot’s writer is a good fit, heh.

We’ll see if this sticks… I always want more Latin@s in primetime and I want them to be good roles. Still iffy about Devious Maids. I am unfortunately old enough to be conditioned to expect cringe-worthy stereotypes when it comes to Latin@s on network TV but I love it when I am wrong. Like I said I’m curious and will give it a chance. *crosses fingers*
